Air conditioner

Hi everybody.

Anyone knows if there is any air conditioner for 2-3 rooms only that have some way to be controlled in bidirectional way (so i can read status, alarms, errors)? I think BI-DI comm requires some sort of serial port and not just an IR transmitter.

Thank you

Jack

Are you talking central, split system or in-wall/window type AC. If you're talking central then you have plenty of options from Carrier, Trane, Bryant, etc which may give you the error and alarms you want or if you just want simple room control then there are the communicaton T-Stats such as the Aprilaire 8870 that you can interface with on any standard type central AC system.

If you're talking split or in-wall/window then I'd say there aren't any in-wall/window that can do it unless it's RF based and while split systems are more likely I don't know of any and I don't even think they're set up for wired T-Stats since they're more of a retrofit product. Of course it would be an easy thing to make provsions for on the indoor unit so it's possible.

The request from a customer is about a conditioner that:
    - Is a split with one external unit and two or three internal ones
    - Uses "inverter" technology, so power consumption will decrease when internal temp is about to be reached
    - Is fully integrated with other domotic interfaces (ie never need to use the remote control, but if somebody uses it, the domotic interface should reflect the settings made by ir).
    - It should not be too "big" since the available power for all room is limited to 3 KW.

And i would add a request, if possible i'd like to use a single connection between "server" and conditioner for all rooms.

Since it's my first integration of an air conditioner using amx, i really don't know where to look :-)

PS: I forgot to say, i'm from Italy, so i need to use products available here

    Thank you
