Humax IR codes

Hello,

I'm looking for IR codes for a Humax IRHD-5100C set-top box.
On this forum I found a posting from Marc Scheibein (28 september 2009) with an attachament containing several IR files. From these the RM-632 works fine but it is missing the 'text' function. Our customer insists on having that. So I was hoping that maybe someone has some newer / other IR files for Humax?

Thanks in advance,

Richard

    To answer my own question:

After trying a zillion files, I found a Philips Pronto .pcf project file which contained (learned) ir hex codes for the 'text' function that could be converted using IR Edit (and looked promising when checking the waveform properties compared to the existing functions that worked). Uploaded the edited IR file to the controller and tested: Succes!

Who ever said IR is easy ? :)

I find that I locate a lot of stuff I need on the www.remotecentral.com site. There's a pretty good repsitory of hex discrete codes. And I've also had to pop open many a Pronto file and copy/past hex code too.

I'm one of those people who actually gives AMX a bit of a pass on the whole IR thing. I would personally hate to deal with all the IR remotes coming and going from our world. If I had a dime for every IR remote that fell out of a clear plastic bag when you cut open a new bo, well... I'd have no need to program IR devices any longer... :)

When I don't have an original remote, I fire up a cheap Universal and load the IR from their library. It's pretty extensive. I understand RTI has a great library too, though I haven't used it.

    Hello Dave,

Do you mean that library is in a form that can be used by AMX (after convertion by IREdit)? Not beeing much of an 'IR specialist' myself, it looked to me that the Philips Pronto library was not usable. It only said: 'from database' and didn't reveal any code. I could only use the codes that were 'learned' by someone. Those were in hex format.

Or do you mean, you use an AMX IRIS for capturing the universal remote after programming it?

Pronto sets can be loaded into ProntoEdit and the individual hex codes can be copied into IREDIT's HEX import mode.

Yes, I meant capturing it on an IRIS once loaded into a Universal remote. Unfortunately, you can paste hex codes into a Universal, but if there is a way to pull them out, I don't know it. One of the advantages of having the physical Universal remote in hand though, is that you can test the codes if there isn't an exact model number, or even series, match. Another advantage to Universal is that anyone can download the software, and they have some relatively inexpensive remotes (though I admit, I just pull a new one off the shelf, capture my codes, then reset it, clean it up, and put it back on the shelf).

    Hello John,

Are you sure about that? For me that ONLY worked with codes that were captured by someone making the 'pronto set'. When trying to make my own set with codes from the supplied Philips Pronto database I didn't see any way to reveal those codes and import them into IREdit. In the window where the hex codes appeared for captured devices, now only the text "from database" (or something like that) appeared.

When you said the Philips Pronto Library at Remote Central, I think you mean the collection of user contributions there (and the "discrete codes" section"). And we use them all the time. It now appears you are referring to a specific application with which I am unfamiliar.

Probably not. I mean the Pronto .PCF files wich contain a collection of devices (and a user interface). These can be downloaded from 'remotecentral' and opened (or imported) with Pronto Edit. If the devices within contain user captured IR codes, then all is fine. If the devices were programmed with IR codes from the Philips database, I did not see a way to extract these codes in a usable form.

    That's what I meant.

    Hello Dave,

Ok, It took a while for me to realize that Universal is a brand.... I should have picked up that you wrote 'Universal ' (with a capital U). Up to that point I did not get how you could pick up any universal remote and do what you did..... Duh.

See, so you learn something everyday!
