R4 and Zigbee gateway device number range

I have never thought of the standards in the device range for R4 and Zigbee gateway, i have always put them in the ICSNet panel devices range. But in the absence of any documentation online, i wanted to know if there is a definite range for these devices

There's no hard requirement. The gateway address just needs to not conflict with anything. The R4 addresses can be similar to your G4 addresses. There's no magic in the numbers, but best to stay out of the 32000 virtual device range.

    Here's how I do things.

    Axlink devices start at 85
    Zigbee gateways start at 4001
    Masters are always at 5001
    COM2 / IRS4 / ICSNet / Cards / etc start at 5002
    Panels start at 10001
    R4s start at 11001
    iOS devices start at 12001

Like John said, there are no hard requirements, but I suggest you do something that makes sense to you.

32000 is the dynamic device range not the virtual (33000) device range. Dynamic devices and virtual devices are two entirely different things that I guess are easily confused with one and other but they do serve two different purposes. Dynamic device ID assignment is kind of like the AMX device network version of DCHP.

Regarding the R4s, I start with 10201 and for the matching gateway I start with 12001. I don’t think there is a hard fast right or wrong answer.

You might want to change that now that the DVX controller's switcher's DPS defaults to 5002.
