MXA-MPL Unavailable - Alternatives?

MXA-MPL encoder is back ordered for the next month. Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Also, can the MXA-MPL send HDCP video to a X series touch panel?

There is no alternative to get the function of this device that is not yet in production for sale. You have to wait.

"HDCP" is not "sent" to the Xpanels. A derivation of HDMI inputs that could have HDCP encoding is sent to the Xpanel video preview area. So if the question is DOES HDCP MATERIAL SHOW UP ON THE XPANEL IN PREVIEW MODE, the answer should be YES. If the switcher can switch it, it will switch and preview.

    That's the plan anyway.

I thought they just sent an email out saying it was available.

If this is the only way to get video on the new panels, that's quite sad as these pieces are a bit pricey. I don't think being able to see what is on each of their cable boxes is as important as just getting a picture of the box they want; paying for a 10 video piece when they just need one makes it a harder sell. For those who care about not "sticking it" to the customer, the price makes it a difficult item to morally sell. This is like putting a 48x48 switcher in a job when they only have 6 sources and 7 rooms. There should be better alternatives.

I don't think this is intended for resi use, but the panels can be used in a home. Getting video to it is imperative, in my opinion.

I think you can get video there without the multibox, but not multivideo.
The box is "available for order" but appears not shipping as yet.

We must have gotten different emails. The subject line of mine is:

"Now Shipping: Multi Preview Live for Modero X Series Touch Panels"

Those announcements often precede actual availability... the original poster apparently was told "not yet".
Well, now it is marked "available to order" on the site as well, so they are probably starting to move out.

The big kicker is the HDCP support.
If there are no HDCP sources then I'd get an Axis video server but if you have HDCP then you have to get the MXA-MP or MXA-MPL.
