NXV-300 connectivity issues

I know there was a discussion about this not long ago, but the forum search is not cooperating right now -- or I've forgotten how to use it.
Have a situation with six NXV-300s in a university installation each connected to a master and each master/vTp serving a distinct classroom. All items are on the school's network. Apparently, at least four of the NXV-300s periodically lose connection to the assigned masters. I've witnessed some of this -- connections not being made and then suddenly making, tp pages that won't display while a "stuck" java icon does display.
The question: For those who have experienced similar problems, does the "hot fix" firmware (v2.1.18) solve these issues? Is the problem ever a problem with the customer's network? Maybe a time for turning off all those etwork things like UDP broadcast?
