NXV-300 Online/Offline

Has anyone see issues with the NXV-300 swinging online/offline a couple times a minute continuously? We have now seen this at two locations.

The first location we thought it was because of the network. The network is not managed well and has a few thousand computers on it (class B subnet) and we figured it was buffers being overflowed.

However this weekend we had a NXV-300 at a residential install do the same thing and take down the processor that runs the house.

We are just wondering if anyone else has see this kind of issue with the device? Just trying to build a case with AMX as they just keep telling us it is the network and there is nothing they can do.

Have had similar issues. Sometimes the devices will go off line/on line, sometimes the pages will not load even though it appears the device is on line. Sometimes the associated master will go offline. You can try a number of things which may or may not help:

On the NXV-300, obtain the new firmware from AMX support. Believe it is v2.1.18.

On the NXV-300,disable bonjour (on one of the protected setup pages a button which shows green -- push it to disable)

Use static IP addresses, set ethernet mode to full, 100 (or 10 or soemthing) on masters and NXV-300s.

    Disable zeroconfig on the masters

Disable UDP on the masters (baud rate to zero)

Disable SSH on the masters (port set to zero)

We had an installation with seven NI3100/NXV-300 systems that was causing all sorts of trouble and eventually, after much frustration, it seems to have stabilized. The last thing we did was disable SSH. There was a recent thread about this stuff which you might find by searching, though the search facility here seems to be haphazard. at best.
  • Thanks. We have done most of that. Haven't tried the SSH and zeroconfig though. I will have to try those out.

We did find out today from the buildings IT staff that we will be getting a VLAN though. So that can only help.

I've seen two with hardware problems which have caused similar problems.
