Can´t stablish socket connection if master password enable

Hello,
i´d like to secure the access to a master enabling password protection for telnet and http connections.
The problem is that if i enable such protection, then the master is not able anymore to stablish connections with other devices through telnet (with sockets). Why is that? I thought that if the master is who starts a communication with an "ip_client_open" command, it is not relevant the protection level in opposite direction...
Anyone knows why could it happens?
