The Denon DRA697CIHD asynchronously sends RDS and HD Radio metadata.

This is very simple and cheap FM tuner with RDS. RDS information: program type, song name identifi cation, radio station identifi cation.

The Elan DT11 and DT22 provide this via RS232 and IP. The protocol is easy and robust. The unit is super fast responindg quickly to commands. It also has a Siruis/XM option as well. Highly recommend. (no, I'm not an Elan dealer and don't even really like them much. Just giving credit when due.) One of my favorite little features is it provides signal strength metrics.

Note that RDS is the European standard, RBDS is the USA standard. They differ primarily (only?) in the codes identifying the category of the station content. But there are region codes that could prevent interoperability if the manufacturer/firmware maker chose to set it so. Just beware.

The Elan does RBDS (USA) for feedback.
