LG TV Control via USB

Greetings,

I have a bunch of LG 47LN5750 to control. As stated in the manual, I can use serial commands through USB. This works great as long as the TV is powered on. Once the TV is powered off, it cannot be turned back on via USB. I assume the USB port goes down with the power.

I know I can do IR, but does anyone know of a non-IR workaround for this? Some way to keep the USB ports hot?

I heard rumors of being able to install custom firmwares for these sets, but don't know where to look for it.

Thanks.

Never tried via USB, but have you explored the display's on-screen menu for any "energy saving" settings? Typically these will disable non-essential control boards in displays. Sharp is the most well-known for doing so.

I have all energy-saving related setting set to off. I emailed LG tech support and they confirmed that there is no way to keep the USB ports hot when the set is off.

It's a shame. LG has a vety good control protocol.
