I found Keypad builder here: http://amx.com/techcenter/Applications.asp

If for some reason you didn't find it there, the really old software is found here:
    http://amx.com/techcenter/archivedApplications.asp

I found the module here: http://amx.com/Net/Inconcert/Devices/InConcertMainPage.aspx and search device model PLK

    Good Luck

This is the new KeypadBuilder Software for MIO-DMS Keypads!

I had a look here to and couldn't find it not sure what it used to be called KPDesign or something.

A search of KPDesign yielded this and the executable appears to be linked here as well: http://www.amx.com/products/KPDesign.asp

Looks like those pages are all gone now, and I need the software to make changes to an old system. Does a download still exist somewhere?

  • Thanks, but I'm looking for KPDesign, not KeypadBuilder, which I've already downloaded. I believe KeypadBuilder is the newer version and is not compatible with the old KPDesign KPDs. KeypadBuilder expected KPB. I also tried changing the file extension just in case, didn't work.

Confirming, KEYPAD BUILDER is for MIO-DMS, and the request was for the more ancient PLK-DMS from the Panja days. KPDesign is the program name.

I had the documentation and what purported to be an installer which I shared with the poster. The installer turned out to be DISC ONE of a floppy set, but that's all I had.

Fortunately, I have a working copy on my work computer, and between the one install disk and my files from the AMX CONTROL DISK folder in my computer, the requester has it working.

Still would seem that as many PLK-DMS as got sold, the software should be made available for what little effort it would take. All these years later, we still support the devices. And a shocking number of our customers across the country would rather use them than pull new wires and cut new holes in walls.

Really, I've always been amazed that AMX never, ever paid any attention to upgrade paths when designing new UI. Product management should realize that making upgrade sales easy means you GET the sales and KEEP that customer AND DEALER.

Nothing can replace a PLK-DMS without construction. Nor can any G4 or G5 panel replace a CP4a or a CV10 or CV6 without new plaster and paint as well as a whole new communication and power wiring scheme. Have you ever noticed that high-end houses have high-end wall finishes that can require an entire wall to be redone once you have to make a bigger or smaller hole? Talk about disincentive to upgrade.

Even the MIO-DMS couldn't replace any other device, or be replaced by any newer device, without wall and wire surgery. Had thought gone into this during design, dealers would have had an easy and profitable upgrade opportunity at every customer. Once you have to tell the customer it's a tear-out, it becomes open season for competing brands instead of a no-brainer incremental update.

    /end rant
