Meter trigger for 9088iis

Just thinking out loud so I I might ramble a bit.
I'm trying to find a method of sending a control signal out of a logic port so it remians high until reset manually.
I was wondering about the control signal part of a meter object. In London Architect it is a trivial matter to to use a meter trigger and link this to the logic port but I can't find an elegant way of doing it in Soundweb designer.
What I have tried is this;
Use a meter on a signal path. Add the control port function. Send the output through a gate - from which I use the 'gate open' indicator to change the state of the logic port. The problem is that the gate open indicator changes it's state according to the audio and therefore the logic state also changes. I can't find any other processing object that I can control that also has an indicator light to tie to the logic port.
If I explain the purpose it might make more sense.
I have 2 9088iis boxes that each receive an identical analogue voice alarm signal. This signal is then also sent from both boxes across the digital network in case one analogue signal should fail. The digital signal is ducked under normal circumstances. I want a logic output to trigger an external alarm (warning buzzer or lamp or whatever) to notify that the analogue signal is missing (i.e. digital audio is being used as a backup) and should be investigated. This should also remain in the high state until reset manually after the repair of the missing analogue audio. I thought it would be easy to do by linking the output of the meter control circuit to the logic port but this can't be done directly, obviously.
So basically I would like a software method of making the logic port state remain high if audio is detected post the network audio ducker.
Of course I could use an external latching relay on the logic port but that would be too easy wouldn't it.
Are there any other ways of usefully connecting the control output of the meter object? I know about using it to control the amplitude of another signal through the modulator.

This would also exclude the ability to reset the logic state without logging on with Soundweb designer. (There is no reason why one of our service technicians couldn't do that but the skill level of the staff at the install means they would have difficulty logging on and using a security controlled custom panel - they are, however just about able to trace an analogue signal and repair a termination or pull a new wire in an emergency).
And I realised I don't need to run the audio through a meter then the gate - I can run audio straight through the gate and terminate the gate with a meter for compiling.
Is there a way to recall a parameter preset other than through a control input port?
I'll probably go with the external latching relay after all.
