Changing Line level to Mic level cards

We have 5 soundwebs. Only 1 have Mic level cards

We would like more webs with mic level cards.

Can this be done by ourselves or are the cards totally different?

  • You'll need to purchase Mic/Line cards to replace the Line cards.
  • And, it is really easy to do by yourself!
  • So how do you change a Line card into a Mic/line card?
  • In design mode, double click on the DSP, you will drill down to see 'inside' the processor and all the processing blocks you are using in the design.

double click on any of the 8 grey input blocks and it will open a default control page that allows you to adjust the cards in blocks of four. Use the tabs along the top to navigate. You can also turn the phantom on or off from these pages.
    cheers

EDIT : It really is early in the morning here, have just reread the post and the above is how to adjust a mic/line card between line and mic level.

To change a input card out with soundweb green:

    Order a replacement card
Remove the soundweb unit from the rack and place on your workbench facing up.
Suitably statically isolate the unit you want to swap the card on
take the lid off the unit (9 screws) Make sure you have the right screwdriver for this as otherwise you will strip the screws - don't use a screwdriver that is too big...
identify which card you want to remove.
Undo the screws that hold the card in.
Carefully lift the card up off the multipin connector
Replace the old card with the new card
Screw all the screws back in the correct places
confirm you have no screws left over
    Turn the unit on
    Go for a lie down

P.s. In the software you are also going to have to update the properties of the unit so that whichever card slot you have changed is correct (the software must match the hardware)

  • no you do not understand.

can you actually change the line level card and change the components to make it a mic level card?
  • repost

You'll need to purchase Mic/Line cards to replace the Line cards.
  • The card that you need to order from your dealer is a Z-088MIC card. The last time I bought one (around 2004) they were not very expensive.
  • been quoted £110.00 a card ( 4 mic channels) so £220.00

    I thought that was expensive

Or you can buy a £12 external mic pre and wire it before the line inputs. You get what you pay for.

  • I have had a 3088 running a 5.1 monitor processor (eq and bass management) for several years. I'm now setting up another 3088 to do the same thing.

Wanting to use basically the same design with different parameters, I copied and renamed the design file. When going on line it complained about the device name; I changed the name in the design to match the device in the box.

The old one used digital i/o. The new one is analog i/o. In the properties for the device, I went to the options tab and set the inputs to line input.

Nonetheless, the network window complains \"wrong options...inputs...is setup as 'line input' in design but as 'mic input' on network device.\"

I'm going around in circles. How do I harmonize the design's device with the real world?

    TIA, Dan
  • It sounds like your 3088 has mic/line input cards. Even if you are running line level inputs, you will need to select the mic/line option for your input cards in order to get the design to load. Then, just adjust the gain on the input cards as needed.

Thank you William! Counter-intuitive; select \"mic\" to get line inputs. That worked.
