BLU-10 and presets

Is there a way to use a BLU-10 and select a particular parameter preset from a parameter preset group using only one touch zone (BLU-10 button) and the knob, or do I need to assign each preset to its own touch zone? Related question – does the parameter preset invoke when the button is pressed or released. This all relates to mapping the presets to buttons and making sure that the buttons do not prevent manual adjustment, and how to use multiple buttons to select one of several parameter presets from a parameter preset group. I want to get the design working and verified before buying the BLU-10. We are using a BLU-80/32 with a Crestron now, and need much more control without having to go through a Crestron programmer for every minor change.

I'm not sure I follow your thoughts but here's a try to answer...

To place a Parameter Preset GROUP onto a BLU10 button, simply drag that group from the design tree onto the button. When you press the button you will get a list of all the Parameter Presets within that group, scroll with the knob and select by pressing OK.

To place a single Parameter Preset (not a group) onto a button, simply drag that perticular Parameter Preset from the design tree onto the button. When you press the button you will trigger the preset.

You may try all this out in London Architect without having any hardware at all. Right-click the BLU10 icon i your main view and enter \"button setup\". Right-click the \"button setup window\" to simulate the operation and navigation of the BLU10.
With the \"button setup window\" open, you may chance text and visuals of each button in the Properties menu.

Another option to consider is creating Custom Control Panels within London Architect. Then let the customer operate the soundsystem via London Architect (running on a PC hooked up to the system). You may even include a touch screen monitor.

If you haven't already, you should sign up to a Soundweb London training. There you will learn all (well, almost at least) control options for Soundweb London.

  • Your second paragraph answered my main question. I am the customer and have taken the self study modules and the old 8 hour on-line course. I have spent about 10 hours or so working with LA. I have been doing analog sound for about 15 years.

We really don't want to get into the PC control since we want to be able to control the system from the worship space where we can hear and see. The equipment is in a sound rack in a very large janitor/storage closet.

We just wanted to get everything running and demonstrated as much as possible before springing for the BLU-10.

Since the PC connects to the Soundweb London via ethernet (exactly the same as the Blu-10), there is no reason the PC can't be in the same location as the Blu-10 would be.

If that isn't practical, a touchscreen monitor can be remoted quite some distance from the PC, and would give you flexibility not present in the Blu-10. (though it won't be quite such an attractive form factor!)

I have recently started playing with writing my own control software (using the free Turbo Delphi). While it is certainly non-trivial, it might provide a way around having to pay someone to reprogram your crestron! My ultimate goal is to have certain functions controlled by some WiFi connected WindowsCE tablets we have. I still have some work to do on that, but I am getting there slowly. Something similar could work for you, but of course the learning curve may be beyond what you are willing to bear.

The main point is that Blu-10 or crestron is not the only way to do things.
