Blu-Link RJ-45 terminations

Do I need a

straight-through (TIA-568B - TIA-568B)
or
cross-over (TIA-568A- TIA-568B) cable

to go from a Blu-Link Out jack on one London chassis to a Blu-Link In jack on a second London chassis?

  • Hi,

Use a straight through cable. We use premade patch cables for local links.

BLU Link is based on Gigabit Ethernet cabling so we have standardised on CAT-6 for all our copper links.

Please note that even though BLU Link will run over standard Ethernet fibre converters, you must not plug it through ethernet switches as it will not work. Read the help file for more details on how the network should be configured.

    Enjoy.

    Rob

*Edit: we also colour code our cables so that Ethernet comms are blue, primary cobranet is green, secondary cobranet is red and BLU link is Purple.
We really need to get out more. (or buy one of those fancy labelling thingys)

No, I wouldn't say that you need to get out more... I do the same thing in my systems. In general, Black, or White for the Control Network, Red is ALWAYS the CobraNet Network, and Blue is for links between units. However, I always label my cables too... hmm... maybe I'm the one who needs to chill out a little bit.
