A customer recently called me with a question about muting mics in a conference room. The mics were the gooseneck type with a button on their base and an illuminated LED to indicate on/off. During our discussion, we talked about the fact that it would be nice to have both a momentary mute (radio guys call it a cough mute) as well as a latching mute to actually turn off the mic. That got me thinking about clicks vs double-clicks and I ended up with the circuit shown below.
Eventually, other features were suggested such as a master mute, a button to set all mics to off, and a button to set all mics to on. That turned into a 8-channel logic macro which can be downloaded here:
