Logic Output control of third party devices

I read in the London Archiect help file that \"Logic Outputs can be used to drive indicators or third party devices. For example Logic Outputs can trigger infra-red commands (to control DVD players etc) or power relays to turn other equipment on or off.\"
I need to be able to power on/off a digital flash card player as well as play/stop a looped track upon triggering presets. I can either use a IR on the unit or a remote jack on the back. Can anyone give me guidance on where to get more detailed description of how to accomplish this? I apologize, I am a newby...

If the \"remote jack\" on your device accepts contact closures or 5v, it can be tied directly to one or more control outputs.
To use IR, you need to get a converter which will send IR strings in response to a contact closure or RS-232.
* The Xantech RS232IR will send IR strings in response to RS232 commands received from the Soundweb London device.
* The Xantech 590-10 programmable controller will send IR strings in response to either contact closures or RS232 commands from the Soundweb London device.

Xantech owes me a t-shirt.
I used the Xantech 590-10 to drive a DVD recorder in a project about a year ago. I found the software quite 'clunky' and local support (in the UK) equally 'clunky'.
However, once configured correctly it has so far run without issue.
If you do decide to use this unit, let me know and I'll try to dig out the correct software and any 'pearls of wisdom' I can remember.
Thanks
