BLU-10 Freezing

Hi, We have installed 2 BLU-80s and 5 BLU-10s in a hotel in a single network. All BLU-10s are POE. The problem is sometimes one of the panel in the nework is freezing. The pages are there, but completely frozen. It works sometiems after reebooting. What could be the problem..? What is the maximum distance if we use POE. Providing an external power supply will solve the problem...? Any clues... its the first time we are using BLU-80/10.

  • Are they installed in metal back boxes?

If so, that's likely to be your problem although someone from BSS should be able to confirm if you contact them directly.

I'd recommend replacing the back boxes with plastic versions. Since I've done this I've never had a problem.

    Hi,

Do you know if the BLU10 units are older than 2 years. I have had an issue with BLU10 units that were using POE for power and were mounted in a metal enclosure. It was something to do with the grounding of the POE voltage.

There is a mod that BSS suggested if you need to use POE in the older BLU 10 remotes. Contact them to confirm this.

If you can power it locally (via the phoenix connectors ) the unit will work with no problems.

BLU 10 units that are less than 2 years old will have been updated during manufacture.

Yeah... They are installed in metal back boxes and they are using POE. Changing the back box will be difficult at this stage as the hotel is fully operational now. But I am having an extra cable (Provision for external power supply). If I use External power supply & Metal box, can it solve the issue..?

    Cheers
  • If you provide local power to the BLU-10's (rather than over the CAT5) it fixes the bug that both Rob and I are referring to.

Assuming that's your problem, it should just go away.

    Hope this helps.
