Is there any posibilty to do a Privet Multicasting of Cobranet Bundles
if not is there any other methode to ensure the n/w security?

  • Private CobraNet bundles aren't implemented in Soundweb London devices. The use of private bundles provides only the illusion of security without actually securing anything. Using private bundles merely eliminates the need for the CobraNet conductor to tell the receiving device where to find the transmitter. To defeat the \"security\" of private bundles, all you have to do is determine the mac address of the transmitting device.

If you want a secure CobraNet network, then physically secure your infrastructure. CobraNet is an unencrypted data stream which, by definition, will never be secure when used on insecure infrastructure regardless of the tricks used to make it look good.

  • Hi
only advantage we are looking in privet cobranet bundle is the MAC address associated with it.

is there any other way to find the MAC adress for the cobranet bundles in the existing system?
  • CobraNet bundles don't have mac addresses. The device transmitting the bundle has a mac address. Look in London Architect in the network view; the mac address is listed as Serial Number in the Network Device Network Settings.

Why do you want the mac address?

  • We are using 12 Blu 80 in a Vlan. The n/w is using ERS 4550T- PWR Nortel Switch.when the n/w admin enable a feature in the switch \"Block unknown Multicast traffic\" our audio goes down. The same Vlan is allowing IP TV multicast bundles with the same feature enabled.
we can not physically separate the current n/w.
