9088iis doesn't connect.

Hi all members and forum's moderators!!!! I'm Francisco Vitali, and work as Technician maintenance of proffessional audio equipment in a sound reinforcement company in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We work with some BSS processors like 3088 and 9088iis for our systems. I have a problem with a 9088iis, it \"froze\" in a program and doesn't connect with the PC. In SoundWeb Designer, all the configuration is OK because works with other BSS models. In the moment of connect \"Go online\", appears a window with the text: \"Soundweb could not find a device on the network. Please check your serial cable, and comms setup\" (View the JPG). During the search the device the LED of activity of 9088iis is flashing, but the process ends at that window. As i am technician, i did a checkup of RS232 connector and mainboard in search of \"cold weldings\", and old Capacitors, but everything looks good. Maybe someone can help me, or guide me a little. I saw than on this forum there are good topics and predisposition. Thank you very much for reading this topic. Greetings from Argentina!!!

Check to see if there are ay lit LED's near the 2 DSP's and also by the main processor in the middle of the PCB. If these LED's are all off, you have a problem in the PSU with the 5Volt line, this could be caused by several things.
Most likley a capacitor on the 5V PSU output C216.

  • Hi George!! Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late response....the 9088iis was repaired by me...after reading your reply, i check the Led`s and were all work good. This was for me a challenge!! Without Schematic diagram...without technical information....with the oscilloscope and the multimeter, i could verify the buffer and driver from the data block in-out...two little IC´s near the Mini Din-8 connector data. This are Drivers and inversors, adapting the signal input and output to the other blocks....Here in Buenos Aires there aren´t This SMD IC´s so i had adapt two PCB´s with the DIP and cables to the PCB Main. I upload a Photos of the reparation. I Hope this information can help to other people in future. Thank you very much!!! for your help....and greetings from Buenos Aires.

Why not just call the BSS distributor and order the correct parts?
