Dan/Rob.

Can you please explain to me what the difference is between the 9008 gen 1 and the 9008ii?

Thanks
Andrew

    The 9088ii changes were:

    - Increased DSP speed by 25%
    - Added 3-wire mode to control inputs
    - Added the ability to use digital I/O cards

    Dan.

Do those changes you listed apply to the 9008ii or the 9088ii (or perhaps both)?

I am particularly interested to know about the 9008ii vs 9008 gen 1.

    Thanks

    I read 9088 rather than 9008.

There are no functional differences between a 9008 and a 9008ii. The only change is a different networking chip which means they use different firmware. Their capabilities are identical.

    Mk1 devices:
    9088
    9000

    Mk2 devices:
    9088ii
    9000ii
    9008
    3088

    Mk3 devices:
    9088iis
    9000iis
    9008ii

Mk1 devices are the 80MHz processors.
Mk2 devices are the 100MHz processors with the other changes listed in my first response.
Mk3 devices use a different network chip.

Yes, the naming is incredibly stupid.

Just a shame they never released the GTI, but then i suppose that is what London is...;-)

    Hi Rob.

I'd like a London but quite frankly 9088's are a great buy on the 2nd hand market right now.

I have no idea what the difference in sound quality is like between the 'greens' and the 'London' (if any) but since my use of these boxes is for HT, I doubt I'm ever going to pick it up.....and there's no way I'll be doing any A/B'ing.

Dan, thanks for the explanation showing the differences between the models. You're right, the naming should have been a lot clearer.

    Cheers
