Scheduled Mute

Can you schedule a mute and then disable it by pulling out a jumper on a control port? Actually, maybe add the jumper to disable the mute. Like a user dongle.

  • Yes, I have done it before.

Just use a logic source, drag it onto control port of your choice, then wire the calendar and the logic source through a 2 in 1 out truth table and program your states. Have 1 preset recalled on output of the truth table going high and another on it going low.
That will let you plug in the jumper at any time- before the due date (for example if the bill is paid) or after the mute has gone off and you were called to \"fix\" the system.

PS: You might also want to enable box security so that it is impossible to reprogram the system from scratch for a fraction of the money that might be owed to you.

Sounds like the sort of thing you could program into the telephone input card, too, so you wouldn't have to pay a visit to physically plug in a dongle, just call the Soundweb, enter the code. this of course would be appropriate for recurring billing situations. Or probably better, call to enter a code to enable killing the system after they go past due. (assuming the majority of customers pay their bills on time :) ).

Of course, this would also require a telephone card in one of the devices, plus a telephone connection.
