Sound web 3088 wont go online in Parallels

Hello, I am trying to get my bosses soundweb 3088's working in parallels mode on mac osx snow leopard. We have windows xp running in parallels desktop mode. He has 2 working programs built that he was running on an old dell laptop which were connected with a serial to usb converter. When we tried this in parallels the converter would not communicate with mac osx and therefore not communicate in XP. We now have a serial to usb converter that can communicate with both Mac osx and windows xp. I keep getting the error message \"The serial port is not available.\" Does anybody know if I can get this up and running on a parallels system or have any suggestions of things to try? Thank you.

That message means the port you're trying to use doesn't exist in Windows. First, right-click on MyComputer, select MANAGE, click on DEVICE MANAGER, and then expand the PORTS selection. That will show you the COM ports that exist in Windows. Then, go to VIEW | PREFERENCES | APPLICATION PREFERENCES and look on the COMMS tab to see what port Soundweb Designer is trying to use. Set it to use a port that exists on your computer. If it still doesn't work, then look for other things that are trying to use that port. MS Activesync will lock out ports if it's running.
