Link with presets

Can you link/unlink gain and mutes from presets or macros? I'm working on the AMX side and the customer wants room combining of volume controls, but they aren't familiar enough with combining using the bss objects.

You can turn a link on and off, and you can link the on/off to a control panel button. At that point, you should be able to add the button to a preset group. You can also control the button from a logic end, if you want to do something fancy in the logic.

If you are controlling it from AMX, once you have the button, you can directly trigger the associated state variable; actually, come to think of it, I THINK there's a State Variable associated with the link on/off (IIRC there has to be, for you to be able to link it to a control panel button in the first place) so you could directly hit it from the AMX panel.

Unless you only have two rooms, what you're asking for won't work because it's impossible to have a single SV in more than one link group. That means it's not possible to have a button that turns on the link for A+B and then a different button that turns on the link for A+C. That was one of the many reasons for the creation of the room combine object.

Tony LoPresti at Network Sales & Marketing can help you with more info about the room combiner or he can put you in touch with a BSS application engineer who can explain it in more detail specific to your project.

    Also, note:
#1 it is not possible to take a link on/off button and link it with something else which means you can not control it from a logic end.
#2 there is no state variable associated with a link on/off, so you can not control it directly from AMX/Crestron or any other external control protocol.

You can get around both of these limitations by including the link on/off button in a parameter preset group and triggering parameter presets as needed.
