Save & Recall Gain settings to other channels

Hi, first post here but fairly familiar with Soundweb London.

My question is as follows:

I want to be able to record the values of some gain settings and assign them to other channels, such as for example, to read the values of an n-input gain object and assign the current state of gains 1-8 to 9-16, and 9-16 to 1-8.

Is this possible, and how would I capture the gain value to logic?

Effectively can't be done with any degree of accuracy. You could create a hideously huge logic mess that would do a very rough version of this by using multiple Logic Comparators on the source faders to trigger multiple presets on the destination faders, but it would be a bad idea. If you were happy with only the same accuracy as MIDI (128 positions), it would still be a flaming nightmare to program. You would need to create 2048 preset groups, then create 2048 parameter presets, then place and program 2048 Logic Comparators wired to 2048 Parameter Preset Triggers, and finally assign the 2048 presets to the 2048 triggers.

...and the Soundweb London device may or may not grind to a halt under that load.

Don't ask me to help program it.

  • Thanks Dan,

Sounds like I should just call BSS and request that this be implemented as it really opens up the possibilities for external control.

It's already on the wish list. What you're basically asking for is being able to have one SV belong to multiple link groups and also being able to trigger a link group to sync to a specific SV without needing to move that SV on the screen or controller. Send an email to your Harman sales rep telling them how you would be able to sell more BSS product if you had this feature. That tends to get their attention a bit more than vague ideas about how cool it would be.

If you want to do it with external control (Crestron, AMX, whatever), it's a trivially simple thing to do. All you have to do is issue a subscribe command for the SV that you want to treat as the master. Soundweb London will send you the current value. Stuff that value into a SETSV command and send it to the SV that you want to change.
