9010 programming

I am working on a system with multiple music inputs and the customer would like the name for the music channel to be displayed on the 9010's rather than just a number. I am using source selectors in the 9088iis units to make the selection. The previous program had that but, of course, the previous vendor did not leave a copy of the program. I have the 9010 programmed to use the knob to move up and down the selections.

  • Add the Source Selector drop down box onto a Map Window.
    Right-click it and select Properties.
    Navigate to the \"Combo\" tab.
Now you can edit the names of the Source Selector positions. Double-click on the numbers and you can then enter any name. (you don't need to press Return)
Now drag that drop down box onto a button on the 9010.
The custome names you created will now appear when you change the sources on the 9010.

Today I took the units to work where we use a rs232 adapter to talk down the snake system to our XTA DSP's. This was to eliminate any potential problems concerning the adapter, OS, or PC. Everything worked like clockwork when talking to the XTA's. I fire up and connect the 9088's and Sound Designer can't find any units on the network. I went directly from the USB port through the adapter to the 9088ii's rear port.
  • Well, from experience, just because one USB-RS232 converter works with one piece of gear, it doesn't follow that it will work with another. I have one which works with BSS devices but not dbx ones. Go figure.

This is precisely why Harman sell an approved USB- serial converter- works with all our gear.

Also, your 9088iis rear port may be configured for use with an external control system, if so you won't be able to connect via that rear port. Try the circular one on the front. If you don't have a cable for that contact your local distributor, they should have stock.

Also check your comm settings in soundweb designer. The rear port I think runs at 115200
