9088iis - front port reset?

hi
ive inherited some 9088iis which a customer wants installed in their venue.

i have a moxa uport 1110 that works with our rs232 Video matrix, however i cant connect to the 9088iis units using it.
im going to get the Keyspan usb> rs232 and try that.

ive tried connecting to rear and front ports.
- not sure if the units were originally controlled via front port,
i dont have the original cable to suit the front port, so im using a new (non OEM) cable. so connection is laptop usb> serial> to 8pin round rs232. (DB 9 Pin Female to Male 8P Mini Din Adapater). which wont connect -( yes read all the help files.)
so first question - is any rs232 db9 to round 8pin cable suitable? or does it need to be the OEM.

2nd question - is there any way to manually reset the unit so it will listen on the rear port.? incase it has been programmed to use front

thanks in advance

regards
Marcus Sutton

    ok
ive made my own front panel cable as the bought one had different pinout config to BSS spec.
purchased new keyspan usb> rs232 adapter
others have reported good success with these.

tried both pass thru and null modem cables to rear port.
tried pass thru and null modem cables to front port.
tried 2 different usb > serial adapters ( keyspan and moxa)
    tried diff baud rates
still cant go online - any other suggestions please?

  • I am pretty new to soundweb london and have a question if I can actually contol cd/mp3 player (play, stop, fastforward, rewind) that has rs232 port via blu 16 with a blu 8 controller. I know there is an application of a school gymnasium that implements pretty much the same set up. But I am kinda slow with how you make those serial strings.
