3 Wire Mode

I have a design where I'm using a momentary physical button in a room to trigger power for a system. I also have a virtual button in the GUI design running on the user's computer. The physical button is connected to the logic input ports and a relay connected to the logic output ports to actually control the power strip.
I want to add a 10k pot in the room to give them a single volume control. I would need to change the control ports to 3 wire mode. To keep the physical button working, I would have to tie the wire from the switch to the control input to the \"R\" terminal with a 4K7 resistor right?
The relay is a DPDT. I tied the second half of the relay back to a logic input so the logic knows which state the system is in. That would also have to be tied to \"R\" as well right?
Attached is a picture showing the hookup of the BLU, relay, power strip, and wallplate with button and LED

Anyway... yes, if you switch to 3 wire mode, and want to use a push switch, you need a pullup resistor to the ref voltage.
About the control outs... the 3 wire mode does not affect the control outs, they work always the same... you can use them as 20mA source for a led or optocuppler or use them as a sink with external power.

Here in germany I'd suggest to get the pot from \"conrad elektronik\".
This one:

Well, there should be some electronics parts dealer around at your place as well.
Another nice idea, that I've also seen, is to use a Blu-3 or blu-6 wall controler and change the front-plate to a custom one. Then you got the Pot's and switches pre-wired and with a custom stainless-steel front the control looks 3-4 times as nice...
Here is how I'm hooking it up
