No Serial Comms. The unit powers up but no way front or back

Hello fine people, I have been using a 9088is for years in an install. One day the unit just stopped comms communication. to designer. It is not the computer. I can log on to other soundwebs no problems. I have have tried the Front at 19200 and the back. If there is something that goes out on these I do need to fix it. Thanks so much for your help.

  • Front port runs at 38400
Rear port runs at 115200 (unless it is enabled for third party control)
  • I think it may be a power supply issue. I am going to try to replace the 216 cap and see if that brings it back to life. If you have any other ideas, please let me know and thank you for your quick response.

  • Look at C60 and C61 also.

Or you could just contact BSS tech support or fill in a support form if you want answers quickly...
The User Groups are not intended as a point of tech support and certainly not if it is urgent.
  • I've got the same problem, same model 9088iis v1.18

    I'm using soundweb designer 1.5

The unit powers up, just Power LED lit and fan running. It's showing audio on the input monitors when we give it some.

Whether I use the front rs232 port (home made) or rear port (commercial null modem lead) the designer won't connect, just reports 'no device detected'.

I've checked baud rates in view>preferences>application>comms

    I've tried connecting through a real rs232 com1 9way and also a prolific usb adapter on com3.

Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong?
I tried the bootloader program as well but it also reports No Device

  • You are not doing anything wrong. It is worth checking the voltages from the power supply.
I will not give instructions on how to check the power supply for safety reasons.
Simply fill in a support form and we will contact you shortly.
