Blu-6 controling different volumes without the serial trick

Most of you, will have thought of using a blu6 or similar for controling different audio volumes.
Well, there is this application note and trick, with the serial strings by Dan Lynch.
But since the \"mono gain\" has a \"+\" and a \"-\" button, you can control it without the serial trick.
What you have to do, follow Dan's instructions
http://www.bssaudio.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=459
But...
in step 1, dont use the 8 gain object, use 8 mono gains instead!
follow step 2, 3, and 4
in step 5 link the 16 wires to logic ends instead of the serial trigger.
Then new step 6:
Link the \"+\" and \"-\" buttons from the standard controls of your mono gains to the corresponding logic ends.

That's all...
Haven't tried it on a real device so far, but the programming works fine...
Maybe Dan could add this to his application note...

  • It works fine on a real device. Below is an example Logic Configuration.

Jerome, thanks for the prooving and the nice screenshot...
  • Because this is cumbersome to do each time, I made a macro for a similar scenario. It's a little silly that BSS doesn't include an easier method of using the BLU-6/9015 with London Architect, but I suppose it may not be doable with tolerances in resistors/resistor ladders.

I use device presets on single channel gain objects.
It can be more exacting to a customer's needs and can be very useful when a certain threshold is virtually inaudible in a system.

Looks like the forum does not allow for upload.

E-Mail if you'd like the macro file.

  • FYI You don't need to the Source Selector in the Audio Configuration anymore. Simply use a Logic Source Select object. (this object appeared in v5.00)
