Madi to Blu-Link

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a device that converts Madi to Blu-link? I've been told that one exists, but I can't seem to find it.
It would be great if the soundweb boxes decoded Madi internally as a software module.

Thanks
Riku

Not exactly elegant I'll grant you, but how about a Soundcraft Si Performer with a MADI card and a BLU-Link card. Use the desk as a patch from MADI to BLU-Link and vise versa, then hook up a Soundweb to the BLU-Link output.

This will work but is not what you are hoping for I'm sure!

Thanks for the reply David, I've seen the SoundCraft stuff, but I need to get this lot into a compact rack that's rammed full of other equipment.
I found a 1U device that will convert Madi to Dante so I might go down this route. I'd prefer Blu-Link, but I'm happy to work with Dante or CobraNet if I have to.
Got any suggestions for Madi to CobraNet?
  • BLU-806 and BLU-326 both have the ability to convert BLU link to/from Dante.

BLU-805 and BLU-325 both have the ability to convert BLU link to/from AVB.

BLU-800 and BLU-320 both have the ability to convert BLU link to/from CobraNet.

If you want to convert Madi to BLU link, you'll need to find some device that converts Madi to either Dante, AVB, or CobraNet. And then you'll need to purchase the appropriate BSS device to convert the Dante/AVB/CobraNet signal to BLU link.

I haven't seen one in real life, but someone showed me the Klark Teknik DN9560 which can change audio from one digital format to another. REally interesting piece. You could take MADI to either Dante or Cobranet into the right BSS box and you would be set.

I'm a little off on the DN9650. It has AES50 ports and a single slot that allows you to pick a format. So while MADI and Dante cards are available, you can't shift from one to the other. So it's AES50 to Dante, or MADI. Not Dante to MADI.

    So close....
  • OPTOCORE DD2 will take your MADI input, Optocore DD32 will convert MADI/OPTOLINK to AES. Then you can Send THE AES into a pair of BLU 160's with Digital input cards! Talk about routing options..
The Dante to Blue link is your realistic option depending on your budget..

  • I recently had the good fortune of seeing this device in action with a BLU806 and my initial impressions are very positive, the whole package worked well, configured easily and is quite a bargain.
