Automixer Auxes

Why doesn't the Automixer have the option to set the AUXes to Pre/Post fader?

I know I can use DOs to another mixer but this is less than ideal.

  • Thanks for the comment. The thinking was most likely this...

The fader is Pre-GainSharingAlgorithm, which itself is Pre-Aux send. If we gave you the ability to make the Aux Pre-fader instead of Post-fader, then that would necessarily make the Aux Pre-GainSharingAlgorithm as well, which wouldn't be terribly useful for most users. It also wouldn't be much different than simply y-splitting the inputs before they hit the automixer and also sending them somewhere else (such as an N-Input gain). I understand doing this (creating splits and adding an N-Input gain) is extra work for you, but that work can be minimized through the creation of a Macro if you find yourself needing this functionality often.

For anyone unaware, the internal processing flow of all three mixer objects (including the Gain-Sharing Automixer) is published as an application guide: http://www.bssaudio.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=976
  • Yea, I understand why it is the way it is, but it's not very flexible.. I could see a Pre-Fade button acting as the AUX sends immediately before the AutoGain in the block flow... and Post-Fade as immediately after (the way it is now). This would be really flexible. Channels automix for the main outs but not for auxes, such as for monitor example.
