Matrix Router - Monoing

I'm using a matrix router for signal assignment in a multi-room venue.

Some zones are stereo, some are mono.

Is it \"bad\" to assign two channels (stereo input) to one output (a mono zone) versus doing it with two outputs with a summer? (The stereo input is also simultaneously routed to other stereo zones).

Cheers!

No, that is fine and is mathematically identical to using a summer. It is not the same effect as what the 'Y-cables are not mixers' motto in the analog world is avoiding, where each of the summed outputs is driving a much lower impedance than intended due to being electrically connected to the other low-impedance output in addition to the high-impedance input. I do commend you for asking the question, as one of my biggest pet-peeves to this day is seeing a red and black wire mashed together under a '+' terminal where someone was too lazy or ignorant to use a proper summing transformer or resistor network.... sigh
