Why the limitations to motion control?

Hello.
I am curious if someone here may be able to answer my query.
I would like to utilise Motion Control for more aspects of FOH duties, including compressor controls (threshold, attack, release..) etc, but I am frustrated to find that I cannot assign these parameters to faders (or anything, for that matter).
Is there a good reason for this? Are there work-arounds? It seems crazy that such a powerful package can be limited in this respect.
