an RS232 port question

Hi Guys,

I am using the BLU rs232 port to (automatically) scroll through the inputs of a video matrix switcher, to a particular output.
every 10 seconds it changes to the next input.

I have then tried to do this to 2 outputs (using 2 x rs232 triggers).

This is when it (the matrix switcher) just stops switching.

Has anyone send data out the rs232 (or ethernet for that matter) port, from 2 or more triggers, at the same time? or am i asking too much of it.

I suppose what I am asking is, is there anything within the BLU to 'traffic cop' data out the ports?
or if 2 triggers arrive at the same time, what happens.

Thanks for your time.

J

  • why not build a little logic delay into the design pre one output trigger. Get it to monitor the 1st trigger output and when it's on, send the 2nd into a logic timed delay for a second or two.

This would stop 2 msg potentially being transmitted at the same time.

    Thanks David,

thats kinda what i was thinking,

although I do have potentially 5 outputs that they may choose to do the scrolling on, so that's another head game I didn't really want to play.
