Help with noise reduction: BIB + BLU-50 + BOB2

I am planning to use a BIB, BLU-50, and BOB2 to get 12x12 I/O for JBL 7-Series speakers and subwoofers.

I ran a test with a pair of monitors and the full processor chain. I use a matrix router to send all 8 outputs to all 8 inputs so I could confirm that all the channels work, and ran two inputs and two outputs at a time. Since I wanted to do a quick test I did not add the JBL macros for the speakers.

Signal flow was Pre-pro -[balanced analog]-> BIB -[BLU-link]-> BLU-50 -[BLU-link]-> BOB2 -[balanced analog]-> amplifier. BIB set to channels 9-16, and BOB2 set to channels 17-24.

There was quite a bit of hiss. Enough to be audible from the listening position.

I tried with the BLU-link in a circle (OUT on BOB2 to IN on BIB) and without that connection. No difference.

I confirmed that gains on the BLU-BIB were all set at unity (0dB).

There is much less noise just when I run the monitors though the BLU-50. (pre-pro -> BLU-50 -> amp, all analog connections balanced)

All three components were plugged into the same power strip.

Thoughts on how to troubleshoot the noise issue?
