BSS FDS-366 control with london soundweb

Just a quick question...so im using sound web with my FDS-366 via serial connection and as it wipes the controllers memory every time i connect it will I have to keep multiple settings files to reload into it and if so do i need to setup these files prior to connection to load in and do all my fine tuning through the control panel at gigs?
And what is the exact process for saving the setup in the sound web editor?
I tried saving whilst connected but couldnt find the option for that so im asuming i need to bring up the fds in the editor before connecting and save that file?
this is all new to me so exscuse the lack of knowledge with the product here
