How do you load more than one program ?

kevinjameskevinjames Posts: 2
I am having a problem because I can not figure out how to load multiple programs on my Driverack 260.

Just to clarify what I mean, when setting up a program from right out of the box when you turn the selector dial you have program 1-however high it goes.

Out of the box every program flashes \" NOT LOADED\" and you have to press the selector wheel to load the program. Once you have done that for \"Program 1\" for example you can go into the \"Set Up Wizerd\" and set all your perameters for program 1 for everything such as what speakers, what amps, weather in stereo or mono, etc. and all your other stuff such as input gain, crossover point, compression/limiting etc. Once everything is set you can save the program and evrything is fine and dandy with that program.

Here is where I am confused. Now that I have program 1 loaded I want to load other programs for different applications where I may be running amps in mono instead of stereo, or I may be using totally different amps or speakers than program 1, plus input gain and compression/limiting may be set different etc.

What happens is that since program 1 is loaded and set exactly how I want it for its application I turn the dial to program 2 wich flashes \"NOT LOADED\" just as program 1 originally did. So ok, I push the selector wheel and load program 2 and set all my parameters as I want for this second and different appplication.

So now I should have 2 different programs loaded and set exactly the way I want them for their different applications right ?

Wrong. Thats not whats happening. As soon as I load program 2 and set it up when I turn the selector wheel back to Program 1 its back to flashing \"NOT LOADED\" and all my settings that I put in for program 1 are wiped out.

I have spent hours tweaking program 1 and as soon as I load program 2 I loose everything for program 1. Its driving me insane.

What am I doing wrong ?

After doing the setup wizard or ANY changes you wish to keep, you must press the STORE (or SAVE, I don't have my manual handy) button, TWICE. Also when storing after the wizard, you will be prompted to give the program a name. After you name the program, again store it.

I had a similar problem till I got this figured out. Now I have 3 different 2x2 and 2x3 modes stored, each with a unique name like U15 w sub, U15 full range, ect. My problem is documented on the old Driverack User group, the forum before this still accessable at http://www.driverack.com/drug/index.asp .

Unfortunately for answering ho to questions, this is a piece of gear that once you set it up for the speakers & amps you have, unless you get new ones, you don't have to change a lot of that data.

I beleive I have been saving my changes exactly as you have described. I have been very carefull when pressing store to make sure the changes I have made have been saved. That isn't really my issue. I have tested this by making changes to program 1, saving them and turning the unit off. If the changes were not saved properly then when the unit is turned back on those changes should have been wiped out and the settings returned to their previouse setting. When I power the unit back up the changes are intact so I don't beleive the issue is that I'm not saving my changes corrrectly.

My issue is that when I try to load a SECOND program it will load (as program 2) , but after I have saved everything for program 2 when I turn back to program 1 it flashes \"NOT LOADED\" and all program 1 settings are gone.

You are alowed to have more then one program in the same configuration right ? For example 2 different programs both set up 2 x 2 (Stereo highs and stereo sub). The ONLY thing I could think of is if for some dumb reason entering a second 2 x 2 program is not aloud so it replaces the first one. I seriousley doubt thats it though because that would really be retarted.

The driverack I have is the drpa.

Once you make changes AFAIK and shut it down, it should power up with the last thing you did, whether you stored it or not as long as you don't load a different program. Rotating the multifunction knob (on the main menu) allows you to select the stored programs, then pushing it loads that program with it's last stored changes.

Yes, you CAN have multiple programs with the same basic configuration. BTW, 2x2 is stereo in, stereo out full range, 2x3 is stereo tops with mono subs, and 2x4 is stereo in, stereo tops out, stereo subs out. ;>)

Gary (gadget) has the DR260 and will likely be able to give you a button by button procedure when he stops by.

Ok I have been playing with it for the last hour and ACCIDENTLY figured out on my own what you said here.

I thought when you loaded multiple programs turning the knob would select the different programs. I DID NOT know you had to push the stupid button to load the different programs when going from one to another.

The end result being that when I loaded a program and saved it (program 1), and then loaded another program and saved it (program 2) and then turned back to program 1 it would flash "Not Loaded". Because of that I thought everything I saved for progam 1 was gone. I didn't realize if I wanted to swith back to program 1 all I had to do was turn the selector to program 1 AND push the selector button.

I read the manual sveral times and I don't see ANYWHERE where it mentions this one little fact which could have saved me from pulling all my hair out.

Yes, the manuals are not \"stand alone\" (not nearly enough detail) nor do they tell you ALL actions and menus.

You sometimes roll the knob to change parameters or selection of available parameters and sometimes you press it. That's why it's so hard to describe step by step how to do things without the unit in front of you or me.

That's also why it's best, IMHO, to start with the unit plugged in by itself, the manual and a glass of scotch (or whatever) in an easy chair and just play away with the functions and controls. You can do everything except RTA/auto EQ that way ;>)

If I may interject here... Its a hell-of-a-lot easier to understand these things if you use the GUI. Even if you don't hook up to the computer you can download the GUI and view the parameters. But programming the unit is WAAAY easier with the GUI also... Even for those with DRPA's having a graphic of the module's you are working with helps imensly.

My preference was 'Jack\" by the way...
