Clipping / Limiting / Pinking

Hello from Germany,
since three weeks I am a proud DriveRack PA user and tried out many stuff, but I still have some questions:

1. During adjusting the Pink Noise Level the Display must not show the word \"Clip\" - Otherwise the wizard stops with \"Not done\" Correct?

2. Is it helpful to activate the Limiters? I´ve read different opinions in this forum. (I have done the \"Levelling\" as described at appendix \"A\").

3. Are there any further hot tips, \"do´s\" or \"dont`s\" to place the measurement microphone? (Open Air, Hall, Club, Church) There are no examples shown in the manual. (I read your \"New indoors Auto EQ method\"), but I think this is only one exampe, how to do this.

4. The Subharmonic synthesizer function does not affect anything (I can´t hear any difference, but it is not very important for me).

Setup:
Allen&Heath analog Mixer GLII
Syrincs alpha 15/4 Woofers (Band-pass)
EV RX 112/75 Cabinets
QSC PLX 2402
QSC PLX 3402

All the best - Andy

    Hi,

    1. If you clip, the unit won't even let you start the process, I believe
Two things will cause this message. More than 4 bands of the GEQ totally maxed out or cut, and if you have chosen 'unlinked stereo' it wants to do the other channel.
    2. The limiters are ok, and work well, but they don't have a 'peak stop function'
    3. Everyone has an opinion.. truth is if your not able to read and interpret the data, whats the point? I feel your better off to get the flat response, whether you use the outdoor method, or the new indoor method, and go into a given room and use speaker placement and aiming to minimize space interaction. than to use EQ to try and set the speakers with respect to the room.. after all the only way to equalize a room is with a bulldozer!
    Go here:

and go through the 'tutorials sections, and do searches for past posts on the subject... I , and Mike kovasch have written a bunch more on the subject...
4.Don't like it but it does work you just need to set the parameters up. the default has not got much effect to it
