I have a customer who has a Pioneer DJM-400 DJ Mixer. It has unbalanced rca outputs and I want to balance the signal into the drive rack with a
http://www.radialeng.com/di-jpc.htm . Its an active box and works amazing if there is phantom on the line. I know from reading the manual the RTA has phantom but am wondering if the left/right in does as well? I'm guessing NO !

I wont be able to try it till next week and just wondering if anyone can give me a heads up to save me time? I can sub a passive Radial box http://www.radialeng.com/re-proav1.htm
for the job but will have to order it and I have the the active box already.

thanks

The DRPA has phantom power for use with than RTA mic only, not on the inputs. The DI box you linked to uses phantom power from the mixer to convert -10dB consumer to +4dB balanced XLR mic-level output...in place of internal batteries or an external power supply

As the active box you have is designed more for computer sound cards and mic-level applications, a passive DI box would probably be a better move.

thanks Cory......that tells me what I need to know about the inputs on the DBX unit....

The first DI box mentioned has Jenson transformers and was designed for more of a pro solution in regards to dynamic range and signal usually being routed to a pro audio console and PA . I highly recommend it ...this is an incredible problem solver for all thsoe crappy preamps PC's and other consumer products come with and then send signal to a half million dollar sound system. A sound system is only as good as it's weakest link !

The passive will be fine for this application ,I just don't have it on hand.

    Cheers !
