On a completely NON DBX topic, I got to see the \"Pink Floyd Experience\" on Sunday night and I just want to encourage any of you Floyd fans, those of you that never got to see Floyd live, those of you that have only recently found Floyd, or those that just might be curious what the hoopla is all about... go EXPERIENCE this show!
Pink Floyd \"Dark side of the moon\" album sits solely atop the album charts with 750 weeks in the top 100... thats more than 14 YEARS! even then it was off the charts for only a few months and then the CD came out and it continues on to this day... The next closest is Charlie Pride at only 400+ weeks.
In it's heyday The Floyd preferred smaller venues, used primarily back lighting, and was a psychedelic sonic masterpiece. This is again available with the Pink Floyd Experience. http://www.thepinkfloydexperience.net/
Ever since I heard David Gilmore's guitar solo's I was HOOKED. I have been on a quest ever since and I have to tell you this show sent shivers down my spine and my hair was standing on end for the majority of the time... Tom Quinn portrays an uncannily close David Gilmore in look, actions, and especially guitar playing and sound! I almost blew a gasket when Graham Heath sang the female lead on the Great Gig in the Sky... dead on! It was INCREDIBLE!!!! The whole show was! This IS pink Floyd reincarnated!
For you tech heads, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and found Yamaha PM 5D consoles at both FOH and Monitor world, EV Xline speaker systems (in QUADRPHONIC!!!!) In a small school theater they brought in 18 tops and 8 double 18\" subs for a room that holds 750 people!!! (that is only half the system BTW) QSC power and XTA processing...there must have been 30, 1200 watt scanners/color changers...as well as a whole host of other features that recreate the Floyd experience. The rotating hanging screen, the videos... the whole nine yards and they played almost every song I wanted to hear! This IS the ultimate FLOYD experience!
I am just in heaven... to top it off the weather was awesome, and I got to ride my cycle.. I got to talk to Tom Quinn for a long time.. as well as the FOH tech.. one EXTRAORDINARY DAY!
BE well folks... but if this thing comes close ... see it!
