Really off topic! But .... Follow spot rattle.

DraDra Posts: 3,777
My Altman 902 (with fan) rattles during use. This is really annoying for lecture attendees in a ballroom. The rattle is from the fan vibrating the shutter flaps and, to a lesser degree, the appature leafs. Any suggestions? Heat resistant padded tape?
Also can anyone recommend a product for sliding parts squeeks? Hi-temp silacone spray or grease?

PS - Procedures from the welcome post have made it PSW. Old friends Lee P. and Mike M. chimed in.

    Hi Dra
What about graphite to lube your shutters??

You know, that might help if it were a \"grease\". Then the tackiness would serve as a shock absorber when the shutters separate and maybe not allow a complete air gap when they do separate. As long as the lube doesn't run and drip on any lenses from the heat.

    Thanks FM,

How hot does the light get?

Thanks, The last followspot I had (same 1000w) did not have a fan and you had to wear gloves for handle the body for long. No telling how hot it gets inside, close to the bulb and in the direct focusing path. Maybe I can put a candy thermometer there and get an idea.

Is it possible that the fan is out of balance and that if it was ... balanced... that the light would no longer cause the offending noise... perhaps a fan that has a lesser vibration would solve the problem?

Although maybe the fan isn't available any more.. BUT I would make something work.. if it were me...

    G
