Should I use a Bose speaker EQ plus DRPA in my setup

Greetings all
I have a small system

Spirit folio desk
Austraila monitor 1k2 amp
EV SX 300 speakers as top boxes
Bose 502 subs as Subs

1 side of amp drives the SX300 the other side drives the Bose Subs ( I know it is under power but is loud enough for my use)

I aquired the subs for free because they were used in an outdoor instillation and birds used the ports as nesting box.

Please no bagging the Bose they do work well and it's all that I can afford

My question is
Should I use the Bose 502 EQ as well as the DRPA ??

Does the DRPA eq the sub as good as the Bose EQ ??

The set up would be
Mixer
DRPA
High otput to amp then SX300
Low output to Bose EQ then amp then Bose subs

    Hello,

I recommend ommiting the BOSE EQ and only using the DRPA... If used this should allow the DriveRack to perform the AutoEQ properly...2cents.gif

    Thanks for the quick reply

I thought that the bose EQ would only be a modified 1/3 octive eq
therefore no different to the DRPA

What about the cross over point then?

now that I omit the bose EQ I will need to cross them

I will try to find some specs on the speakers and get back to you

    Thanks again

    Hello,

The frequency response is 55Hz-150Hz if they are the Panaray® 502® B Bass Loudspeaker...

    Crossover for Subs: HPF 60Hz - BW18dB/Oct, +3dB gain, LPF 105Hz - L-R24dB/Oct
Crossover for Tops: HPF 108Hz - L-R24dB/Oct, 0dB gain, LPF OUT

As K suggests, the DRPA alone would be better IF you can duplicate the EQ of the Bose controller. It will depend mostly on the number of filters used in the controller compared to the 2 available in the DRPA, unless you also use the GEQ (maybe not reccomended). Try it both ways and go with what sounds best.

Hi again for another quick question

Can I run the system in mono (only left input) and mono out split (Left high + Left low)??

I seem only to be able to program mono input and (L + R high output) and (Left low output)

Should I just not connect the R high output??

From a old man struggling with new technolgy :)

Yes, if that's what you want.
