Live compressor settings for FOH mix

Hi! I got my DRPA several years ago and it's basically been an expensive crossover until now - I tried the auto EQ thing numerous times but was unhappy with the outcome so now I don't use it anymore. Anyway, last night I was noodling with the compressor/limiter to try the vocals sound more 'present'. However, the entire mix goes through the DRPA to the FOH so I don't want to get too extreme. What would be some good setings to start with in terms of threshold, ratio, gain and Over Easy?

P.S.: I had the compressor off but turned the OverEasy up to 10 and it seemed to improve the overall sound. Is that possible? I thought the OverEasy only worked when the compressor is on?

The OverEasy just makes the compression less noticable. If the compressor was off, then you had a psycho-acoustic reaction to a phantom adjustment. The only setting for the compressor in a live band application is OFF. You might get away with a VERY little bit, but you don't want the Kick or Snare to trigger everything including vocals, which is what you are wanting to augment. You need a stand alone compressor to insert on your vocals.
