RTA feature

Hello I just purchased the DriveRack PA and have a question regarding the RTA function. My concern is this:

Most of the time we are playing smaller places where having the RTA mic connected during the performance may not be practical (No places out of the way to place it, people running into it and so forth). In some cases it would be fine to get to the gig early and EQ the room with the mic and then disconnect and play the show and so forth. In some cases this would be virtualy impossible to accomplish because we can't get there early enough where there are minimal people at the bar/club. I really would like to both EQ the room and use it during the performance to make minor adjustments but I just don't see a practical solution on where to put the mic so that it is effective but also out of the way where I don't have to worry about it. I have read about the Pink Noise cd. Obviously I can see this working for EQing the room and so forth but not for the \"Live\" feature.

Does anyone here have a similar concern or situation? Any advice?

Equipment in case anybody cares.

  • Is there somewhere or a particular posting that you can point me too? I don't have alot of time to search through these things and if I type in anything about the RTA I will prob get a bunch of info on how to operate it which I could care less about...Let me know

The info that Gadget is trying to get you to read is important to you. Even if you don't think it will be.

To answer your question about the RTA \"live function... There is no \"live\" function. The RTA is for measuring pink noise only, and is MINIMALLY useful over a small spectrum of the speakers' output band. For \"live\" RTA you'll have to step up to the 260.

Now go and read. You'll be glad you did.

That Info you could \"care less\" about is the answers to the same questions we have answered a thousand times and it's the keys to the machine, in plain language even a beginner should be able to understand...
