Mackie Speakers with Driverack PA

I use the Driverack PA and was wondering if anyone had a better setup than custom for a: Mackie SA1521Z , and SWA1801z setup (both stereo). I was considering the Driverack PX, but I still dont see a preset for them.

Any information on these speakers would help.

Thanks

With those powered speakers all you need is a couple of bandpass filter anyway and a crossover point...lower than the one on the subwoofer. What more are you looking for?

  • I was looking for a preset that I could use. I currently use custom and edit it myself, and it would be nice to tell someone to just use X preset for the speaker selection.

If you mean so you can tell someone using you rig to use a certain preset, then just set one up (custom) them name it \"Mackie SA\", \"SA\", \"SA + Sub\", etc. One for the SA's by themselves, one for the SA's with the subs, whatever. Is that what you wanted?

  • I have the same question as soundmarsh and I think what he's asking is :

Can we choose an already made preset thats close to our speakers
eg For our 1521z we could choose the SRM450
For our SWA1801 we could choose a similar JBL active cab?

Would running through the different presets of other speakers do any harm?

You know it really really doesn't matter...all your getting is a bandpass for fullrange speakers and a crossover point for 2X 3...4...5 way that doesn't take anything into consideration .. like amp power...

With 15\" tops and plenty of power (watts)you can cross anywhere down to about 75 hz... 90 is probably more realistic...With low power move the crossover point up the lower the power you have...don't exceed about 120 hz or the subs will start to sound honky...

With 12\" and smaller tops with plenty of power check out the speaker s3db down point... thats TOO low.. so generally a start above 100 hz.. and move closer to 120 hz the less power you have..

I usually spec hipass @ around 45-50 hz BW 18
lopass again depending on speaker and power @ LR 24

spread the xover point a few hz and use a hipass of LR 24 for the tops...

those presets are less than useful in my opinion..the wizard is so darn simple to use...then your set for what you have and not some general everything preset...
