summing (mono) bass on a 260

MaartyMaarty Posts: 4
Greetings all

I'm using a 260 in a 3 way stereo configuration with a 2x6 xover.

My question is what is the best way to sum the bass signal so I can run the subs in mono?

I've setup a new preset with a 2x4 xover for the mids and tops (stereo), and a seperate 1x2 xover for the subs with A+B channels combined. Am I correct in thinking that this will sum the bass, and if so will I have to reduce the gain on the bass channel to get the same results as before?

thanks in advance

A simple way would be to set up a 'custom' (or you can use any of the presets that exist for your equipment) 2X5 ( Stereo bi-amp tops with mono subs) then 'load' the 'config'.... next, press the \"config\" button and if you have the GUI connected this is SOOOOO much easier... especially for us \"visually challenged\" old farts...

Right click on the xover and select 2X4 for channels 1-4. Right click on the xover for channel 5, select a 1X1 filter...

Right click on the RTE for the #5 channel, select A+B for the input router.

Right click on the \"Xover\" for channel 5 and select 1X1 filter. If you don't have the GUI connected... you will have to navigate the front panel interface to accomplish this...NOT fun...

    Press the \"config\" button again.

You now have a stereo 2 X 4 xover and a 1x1 filter with channels A+B feeding the filter. You can set the HPF and LPF on the sub filter, and, set HPF and LPF for the mid, and HPF, and LPF (if you use one) for the bi-amp tops.

Note, use of the \"config\" mode will allow you to change ANY preset that exists, or that you create...just remember to save and name the preset for easy retrieval (this takes three presses of the \"store\" button... name, select location, really?...)

    Any further info needed?

    Another super easy method.

In the GUI, click \"Config\" and right click on the X-over and select 2 x 5. Done! 8)

    Thanks for the help

So if I'm not wrong in thinking... It sounds like I'm on the right track with the custom setup I mentioned, 2x4 xover for the mids and tops (stereo), and a seperate 1x2 xover for the subs with A+B channels combined.
The reason I've gone for a 1x2 xover for bass instead of 1x1 as suggested is that I'm running two bass amps driving 4 subs. and this is the best way without changing cables from the existing 2x6 stereo setup.

and yes I do use the GUI, would hate to use front panel for setup, the laptop is too easy. Especially for us non pros.

Anything else I should consider, just holla?

check the myspace link below for pics of system.

    Cheers for friendly forum

Bet those come in handy if the room is a bit dark. Keep you from running into them, huh. Did you build those yourself?

yeah glad you like the colours  all part of the retro look. Same with the scoops, gotta love them for reggae! This is the first reggae scoop soundsystem in New Zealand.

would love to hear these Labs one day, they sound deadly!

travelling to Notting Hill Carnival this year, looking forward to checking all those soundsystems.
