Subharmonic Synth

What exactly is subharmonic synthesis and what is the proper way to use it? Our band recently purchased the DRPX. Upon reading the manual I found that it only kind of mentions subharmoinc synth but doesn't go into much detail on its proper application and use.

I don't like it... I don't use it, and in a band situation I believe it is the devils own tool...The Sub synth synthesis's sub bass harmonics your speakers probably can't reproduce, and will tax your amps if they aren't really stiff...

Can you tell I am against them? just because the box has a thing, doesn't mean you need to use it!

IF you were doing only DJ work and IF you had subs that would go really low and IF you had a crazy amount of power... the sub synths could be fun...
