    Hi glocknroll and welcome

There are a few posts on home systems use the search in the blue bar above.

Also read the \"readme\" section first. It is full of useful information. Relative to PA and home systems

Altec A-7-500 Speakers in your lounge room????

    Aren’t they rather big???

    http://www.legendmusic.com/legend/speakers.htm

Or have I googled the wrong speakers??
or have you got a large lounge room??

The PX or PA or 260 would do the job.
Like anything the more you pay the more (bells and whistles) you get.

Do you want to bi amp them???
    what amp are you using??

More info is required to help.

    Finally beat you both

  • Hi and thanks Fanman20. Yes I have a large lounge area. I set the A-7's about ten feet apart, which should mean the listening area should be atleast 20 feet away. I am currently useing a Marantz Model 60 amp, and,a Marantz Model 1060amp and preamp, as the preamp. I will in the future be useing a Marantz 3300 preamp and a Marantz 250 amp. Iam rekindleing an old hobby, and that is why I restored the Altec A-7-500's.They do require some room, as I call it \"breathing room\".But believe me, they make up for there huge size, by creating a huge soundfield too. Thanks again, Howard P.S. plus I always wanted a set of A-7's.[/b]

Those don't go very low though...neither do my Infinity RS 1's, so I have a Sunfire True sub, which can hit 8 hz...and you can really tell what furniture needs some work I'll tell you...

The 260 is awesome.. and the 4800 is incredible.. but spendy...You won't be sorry with the 260..up
