Px Problems

Our band recently purchased a DRPX. We used twice. Used most of the tips we got off of this forum and was extremely pleased with the results, however upon setting it up for a gig last night the unit would not turn on. What could have caused this? The last 2 times we used it it worked fine. Is there an internal fuse somewhere that may have blown?
We have been using it with 2 JBL EON15G2 tops and a mono JRX118SP sub. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We have heard how awesome our system has sounded with this unit and are completely devastated that it didn't work last night. Help!!!

Are you SURE the unit was powered up? If so and you turn it on now and don't have any sound... do a HARD reset as described on page 33 of the manual...If not the unit may be defective and you should still be under warranty...

BTW if the hard reset fixes the problem you need to look at the power you send the unit...you might want to invest in a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) that will keep it powered even when brown power (that below the units minimum power requirement)

I would guess that it is fused, but the fact that it blew (assuming fused) is a concern. Return it for a replacement if possible or send for repair of the root problem is my recommendation.

  • Thanks Guys!!! It was the power cord. Does this happen often?

Do you mean it was unplugged? Or that the cord was bad? Weel good to hear that your up & running.

If you mean it was the cord that attaches to the unit those are an offshore el-cheapo rubber stamp cord i'm sure...$.50 a dozen  probably... but no a unique instance I would bet...

No man it was the cord itself that went bad. We make it a point to get wasted AFTER everthing is set up not before to avoid stupid mistakes like forgetting to plug something in.

    Thanks for all you help!

I played my first gig with my new PX last night and after running the wizard the unit powered down and I can't get it to power back up. The wizard completed and we were ready to roll when it shut down. I tried the hard and soft reset, but the lights ain't on and nobody is home. Any ideas beyond returning the thing under waranty? I hated that after buying all this fancy equipment the the PX was the weak link.

Yikes! Take it back to the store you bought it from. Even it it is just a fuse, something caused it.

Wow..... I have had my PX for about a month now and haven't ran into anything like that. Since it doesn't have a power switch on the front of it -- you just have to make sure the cable is in completely. That crap likes to work it's way loose and just so I don't wear out the cord connector on the PX by disconnecting it everytime you use it (its the only way to shut it off) -- I mounted a power strip in the rack that has a switch on it. That way you can leave the PX plugged in all the time saving wear and tear on it.

Thanks guys. Looks like it's going back to the store today. I was hoping there was a reset or something.

Try another power cord.. I have had an issue with one that went bad right away.... they are a dime a dozen type cord...

My $.02.. I have 4 driveracks and THOUSANDS of on off cycles and 5 night a week duty for some for 8 years and never a glitch after a sofware upgrade for a 260..granted I have only had the PX for a time but it is out every week and chuggin right along...

I have exchanged it for a new one. The serial # on the first was 34, so maybe it had some early bugs that hopefully they worked out. The latest one was built several thousand later. Thanks to everyone for their help. I did check the cord and it was fine.
