EQ on Mono Mains and Sub?

I use the DRPA on my DJ rig and currently use this:

Mixer set in MONO to
Drive Rack PA
Yamaha P7000 (Channel A to 2 Yamaha S115Vs. Channel B to Yamaha SW118 Sub)

I have the DRPA set up to my speaker settings and so it knows it's Mono input. However on the EQ i notice I just have 1 EQ that controls the mains. Is there a way to have a separate EQ for the sub?

I notice that when my system is loud, and I go to talk on my mic. There is a really bad low feedback coming through the sub (but not the mains)

Well.. you don't have the perfect processor for that application (the 260) but you can do what you want~kinda....

You need to set up a custom preset in the 'Wizard'. You want a 'dual mono' setup. Unfortunately, in dual mono you only get GEQ... meaning the Auto Eq. All other modules are tied together.. as in the block diagram A.6 in the manual....

As such, you can Auto EQ the two separately, but even if you send an Aux fed sub signal to the other channel, you will end up processing both together....

If your not familiar with Aux fed subs, then ask... they will help with unwanted low vocals in the subs...\"depending on the mixer\" you didn't tell us what that was... (you also didn't follow protocol...'READ ME FIRST BEFORE POSTING' at the top of the opening page of the forum....)

depending on the answers to my questions we may be able to help...

A couple of things here. Are you running the tops all the way down? If so, that is not a good idea.
    What kind of mic?
Are you running your system flat (as laid out in the RMF section)?
Is there not channel EQ for the mic?
Where are the subs, relative to you?

  • The tops aren't being run all the way down, they are at normal volume that I have relative to the room. This has happened both on an SM57 and 58 mic. The system EQ is currently set to each room, but I pull out \"Most\" of the frequencies that feedback most often. There's a channel EQ for the mic, and when I turned down the low it went away, however the mic sounded extremely thin. The sub was about 15 feet away to my right when this occured last.

What Dra meant was do you run the tops full range? Or do you cross over the subs and tops? If so what frequency do you use for the crossover and what slopes? If your sound is thin with the channel eq LO turned way down I suspect you have something really wrong with your sound...the Lo shelf control is usually centered around 80 to 100 hz even canceled completely not much above 100 hz should be affected, So if have a really thin sound your low mids are compromised...
I have the DRPA set up to my speaker settings and so it knows it's Mono input.
This is incorrect.. the DRPA has no idea that the unit is in mono... amp wise...even if you specified dual mono, there is no amp settings for mono...there IS however a summed mono out on the left low out...

Aux fed subs can help this but I never heard of a DJ system needing a this...something is terribly wrong here Dutch...please provide all the info you can ..no detail is too small...What mixer, what crossover slopes, what subs, what tops, what amps...everything including what ever modules you are using on the Driverack...

We'll get this figured out with the correct info...

Are you using the auto-EQ? If so, are you leaving it as done (expect for the feedback problem areas)?
